Peer Support
for
Cabin Crew

If you work as cabin crew - we are here for you.

As cabin crew you are both the face of your airline and a vital part of a safe operation. This holds true on good days and bad and we understand that the challenges you face are unique to your industry and lifestyle.

Our peer support programme is for cabin crew who might want to speak in confidence  to a peer who understands the professional and personal demands of the role in a way that others may not. Our trained peers are cabin crew like you and understand exactly what it is like to work and live in this environment. They are there for you - to listen and support you in confidence and without judgment.

The primary objective of a Cabin Crew Peer Support Program is to support the mental well-being and resilience of crew doing a tough job in an ever-changing industry. It aims to provide a confidential and safe space for crew members to discuss their concerns, seek guidance, and receive support in dealing with the stressors and demands of their profession, however large or small, personal or professional.

Benefits

Emotional Support: Cabin crew can confide in peers who understand the unique stressors and demands of their job, offering a source of emotional support.

Early Intervention: The program can identify crew members who may be experiencing emotional distress and intervene early to provide assistance.

Reduced Stigma: By normalizing discussions about mental well-being, the program helps reduce the stigma associated with seeking help.

Improved Job Satisfaction: Crew members who feel supported are more likely to experience job satisfaction and remain engaged in their roles.

The Cabin Crew (PSP) is for all cabin crew, whether they work for the airline, charter, or cargo operator. It is governed by the highest professional and medical standards of confidentiality and is administered and supported by the leading specialists and independent providers in this field, the Centre for Aviation Psychology

Using this service

Asking for help or even talking about a personal problem can be daunting!

The people using this service contact us because they are experiencing difficulty in their professional or personal lives and would value talking it through with the support of someone who gets their world -  a trained peer. Their conversation is in confidence and independent of their employer. These difficulties, however large or small, typically include employment uncertainty; life and career stressors and changes; relationship and family problems; fatigue; work/life balance; bereavement; work pressures; career options; financial difficulties, or physical and/or mental health concerns.

Often speaking to a peer is enough in itself or can be the first step in accessing further company (e.g. Employee Assistance Programmes) or external support.

How does it  work?

To keep things simple and secure, the service is provided over the phone. You let us know, via the Speak to a Peer page, that you would like to speak to a peer and we will put you in contact with one of our trained peers who will then arrange a mutually convenient time to talk.

The initial conversation will be to understand how they can best support you - or which direction to point you in. They are supported by aviation mental health practitioners in collaboration with the Centre for Aviation Psychology.
